The brand new Macquarie Library was opened in 2011 and caters for all your studying needs! The library itself is 5 levels, so can be a bit overwhelming if you don’t know where to go – however there are always friendly staff at reception who will always be happy to help you out!
The first step in getting acquainted with
the library is getting your campus card. You should get this on Orientation Day
(if you miss O-Day, visit Student Connect in the MUSE building and you can get
one there!). The campus card acts as your student ID – which you will need to
sit exams and get those concession rates for public transport! – but is also
needed for borrowing books and printing in the library. You will be able to top
up your card at the portals in the library, which will then give you access to
the printers and photocopiers.
There are plenty of private study desks on
the different levels of the library. They are perfect for getting in some quiet
study, especially after hours (as the library is open ‘til late!) Just be
mindful of your fellow peers when entering these spaces – don’t be too noisy or
bring in hot food that might smell out the area!
The group spaces downstairs are perfect for
getting together for a group assignment…there are even presentation practice pods,
which you include a whiteboard and computer screen! If you will be making a bit
of noise with your group, this downstairs area will be perfect – no angry
librarians telling you the SHH!!
So, when trying to research an assignment
or cram for an exam, the MQ Library is the best place to visit! With a range of
spaces designed to fit your different ‘study needs’, there will be no need to
return to your local library filled with noisy HSC students! And don’t forget
the café downstairs, which boasts some of the best sandwiches downstairs for a
study-break snack!
